Davis is an open-source, self-hosted DAV server and administration interface used for managing calendars and contacts. It provides a web-based frontend for user administration and the creation and sharing of address books and calendars. The software is deployed as a server application and can be run via Docker containers, as a NixOS package, or installed manually on a server running PHP 8.2 or higher.

The application implements CalDAV, CardDAV, and WebDAV protocols to allow users to sync data across different clients, such as the macOS calendar. It includes a responsive admin dashboard with light and dark mode options for managing server configurations, user accounts, and data sharing. Deployment options include standalone Docker images with a built-in Caddy reverse proxy or barebone images for custom setups where a separate web server is preferred.

Key features

  • Support for CalDAV, CardDAV, and WebDAV protocols
  • Web admin dashboard for user and calendar management
  • Authentication via Basic, IMAP, and LDAP providers
  • Public calendars accessible via a shared link
  • Automatic birthday calendar updates based on contact dates
  • Calendar sharing and scheduling capabilities
  • Server-side subscriptions and mail notifications

Built with Symfony 7 and Bootstrap 5, Davis relies on the sabre/dav library for its core server implementation. It supports multiple database backends, including MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and SQLite, and allows for migrations from existing Baïkal databases. The system is designed for users who require a centralized location to host their personal scheduling and contact data while maintaining full control over their own infrastructure. It also supports advanced configuration options such as custom mailer DSNs for invites and configurable birthday reminder offsets.

Davis serves as a lightweight utility for individuals or small organizations needing a private synchronization server for calendar and contact data.
