Dyrector

Manage container deployments and versions across Docker, Kubernetes, and Podman from a single self‑hosted platform.

Dyrector is an open-source, self-hosted application that provides a continuous delivery and deployment platform with version management. It allows users to manage containerized applications across multiple environments without requiring direct SSH access or the use of kubectl. This removes the need for manual processes when initiating deployments to multiple environments simultaneously.

The software is deployed as a server and agent architecture. It enables engineers and DevOps teams to handle OCI containers, automate deployments via CD tokens, and manage infrastructure from a centralized web interface. It is designed for use by individual developers, indie hackers, and professional engineering teams who want to shift their focus from infrastructure maintenance to software development. The platform also allows QA teams to autonomously configure and deploy various versions of microservices to test environments without needing direct assistance from developers.

Key features

  • Support for Kubernetes, Docker, and Podman
  • Multi-instance deployment across environments
  • Secret and configuration management
  • Auto-generated changelogs and release notes
  • Scheduled releases and workflow support
  • Integration with various container registries
  • Fine-grained RBAC and audit logs
  • ChatOps and notification integrations
  • Built-in JSON editor for container settings

The system architecture consists of a platform and specialized agents. The platform uses a React and Next.js frontend with a Node.js and Nest.js backend, storing data in a PostgreSQL database via Prisma ORM. The agents are written in Go and communicate with the platform using gRPC with TLS encryption. Separate agents exist for Docker and Kubernetes environments to facilitate communication between the UI and the underlying infrastructure. This setup allows users to bring their own infrastructure while managing all containers and applications from one place.

Dyrector is a tool to bridge the gap between software development and container orchestration by simplifying the deployment pipeline and version management.
