LeoMoon Wiki-Go is an open-source, self-hosted wiki platform that uses a flat-file system for content storage. It allows users to create knowledge bases and documentation using Markdown files without the need for an external database. The application is deployed as a server and can be run via Docker or prebuilt binaries.

This software is designed for managing internal documentation, personal knowledge bases, and team wikis. It organizes content into nested directories and uses a file-based approach where document titles are derived from the first H1 heading in the Markdown file. Users can control the sidebar order by prefixing directory names with numbers, allowing for a structured layout while maintaining readable titles.

Key features

  • Markdown editing with support for emoji, Mermaid diagrams, and LaTeX math
  • Full-text search with phrase matching and result highlighting
  • Hierarchical page structure with version history and revision tracking
  • User management with path-based access control and group permissions
  • Interactive Kanban boards for task management within documents
  • Link management with automatic metadata fetching and categorization
  • Commenting system with Markdown support and administrator moderation
  • RESTful API for programmatic access to wiki content
  • Support for various file attachments including images, PDFs, and office documents

Built with Go, the platform includes a web-based admin panel for configuring site settings and tracking usage statistics. It provides a responsive interface with light and dark themes and supports both native HTTPS and reverse-proxy setups. The system also includes custom shortcodes to extend Markdown functionality and breadcrumb navigation for easier site traversal. For project management, the integrated Kanban boards support drag and drop tasks, nested sub-tasks, and real-time updates, transforming standard documents into visual boards.

Administration is handled through a centralized panel where users can be assigned to specific groups to grant access to restricted documents. The software supports a wide range of media embedding and is optimized for print-friendly documentation. It is designed to operate with zero maintenance by eliminating the database layer entirely.

LeoMoon Wiki-Go is positioned as a low-maintenance solution for users who prefer a databaseless approach to documentation.
