Note-gen is an open-source desktop app that focuses on a capture first, organize later workflow. It functions as a combined capture inbox, Markdown editor, and AI assistant for managing personal knowledge. The application is available as a cross-platform desktop and mobile app built with Tauri, allowing users to maintain a consistent environment across different operating systems.

Users save raw information such as text, voice recordings, screenshots, and links into a central inbox without needing to decide on a final location immediately. Once the data is collected, the software uses AI to transform these fragmented records into structured Markdown notes, summaries, or reports. This approach removes the need for immediate organization during the initial capture phase, facilitating a more fluid process for gathering thoughts and research.
